Party fit for a Six Year Old

I do have to admit that Leyton's party took a bit longer to prepare then Maddie's party but, I'm beyond pleased on how it all turned out. He was soooo excited and every time he saw something new that was LEGO themed his smile got even bigger. He was so full of questions and loved to help me out with it.

Again, I took a lot of photos so I'll share more photos of the party itself. Here are the decorations and other details.

Paper LEGO's that hung from the light above the table. I saw this idea on Stephmodo's blog site. They were so simple but, one of my favorite decorations!

These hang'n LEGO guys I created. One said "Happy Birthday", "6" and the other two plain.

These guys have Bakerella to thank. For some reason the black and blue editable pens weren't working that great so they got cheerful faces of green and red.

I made the LEGO cake which was the hit! My son was so excited that he had to open the refrigerator to show everyone when they first got to the party. A lot of time, love and a battle went into that cake. But, in the end I was very pleased how it turned out. I got the idea off of the Betty Crocker site.

Blue, red and yellow were the three main colors I used. They just screamed LEGO's to me. Leyton even pointed out that when the table was set it looked like a giant LEGO. Too cute!

I made this pull pinata using a large shoebox. This was my first attempt of making one and it actually worked!!! I'm sure the boys would have loved one to hit but, since this was going to break open downstairs I was thinking "safety first".

And finally the gift favors. I found LEGO shaped candy at a local candy store - score! I bought blue lunch bags at Michael's Craft store and added a tag that had the children's names on it using the LEGO font I found here.

LEGO Party Invitations

Whew...We just got done with Maddie's party and here I am on to planning Leyton's. When asked what sort of party he'd like it was hands down a LEGO one. The kid loves LEGOS right now so, LEGOS it is.

I searched the web a bit and really liked these simple party ideas here so this was a bit of an inspiration. I love the paper LEGO's hanging from the ceiling and that is already on my list.

Here are the invitations I designed for Leyton's 6th birthday party. He is completely excited for this. I am too! I have some great ideas and once again cannot wait to share another birthday party with you.

Oh, lollipop...

The LEGO inspired party I did for my son's birthday last year has definitely been the most popular and most searched post on my blog. Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I'm so glad I've gotten to help out other LEGO enthusiasts.

If you are in need of other party ideas don't hesitate to ask. I absolutely love designing for children themed parties. I've just added some goodies for a "Sweets" or "Lollipop" themed party in my Etsy shop. I have designed an invitation, toppers and thank you tags. If there are any other party items than what I currently have in my shop that you'd like - all you have to do is contact me and I'd be happy to help you out.

A few other themes I have in my shop include: Princess, EIEIO, Old Express Train, and Lady bugs. I do have more so go ahead and take a peek. Is there a theme you'd like to see me add to my shop? I'm always on the look out to create more.

LEGO Party Part 2 and Downloadable Bag Topper

This is it for the LEGO party. I wanted to share a few photos from the party itself. I do have to add that I did not get many of the actual party. Handling 6 year old boys(neighborhood girls were pretty easy) kept my husband and I busy so, I did not always have my camera on hand.

The kids had a great time breaking open the pinata. We also played a game where they kids had to collect as many balloons as they could in 30 secs. Afterwards we let them run around and break the balloons.
We were hoping the weather would hold out with no rain since we were going to rent a huge inflatable waterslide. The day ended up being pretty nice but, because of all the rain we got prior to the party our backyard was a mess. We opt to do just water balloons, water guns, and a slip-n-slide. The had just as much fun.

This party was soooo fun to create. I can't help but share another printable with you. These are for the bag toppers. They fit a 3.75 x 6 treat bag which you can find at craft stores. Enjoy!

Waterslide Party

This past Saturday Leyton had an early birthday celebration with a few friends.  His birthday is not until the end of July but, it was the only Saturday we had free this month.  The day sort of crept up on us and I wasn't as fully prepared as I was with his Lego party.  But, the boys had a blast and it was so much fun to see insta smiles all over the place.  It started with this invitation and I came up with a few things to go from there.  We had a water slide, water balloons and squirt gun fights. Since it was all about water activities the colors were of course blue.  Leyton had fun picking out treats to share, blueberry licorice, blue wrapped smarties, blue dolphin gummies...

A few pictures from the day.

Oh, how this boy melts my heart!

A slice of Sunshine

We've had the worst bout of weather the last few weeks. It pretty much goes like this...rain one day...no rain the next...rain again...no rain. Cities south of us had 7 inches in 2 hours a few days ago. I'm a little bummed since guess what? More rain tomorrow. Tomorrow is the little guys birthday party. We were all set for a sunny day. We rented an inflatable water slide and was hoping that and other water activities would be the hit. Wishful thinking on my part. Even so I know Leyton will have a blast with his friends and will enjoy his Lego themed party. He's been counting down the days.

Despite all the rain I thought these lovely mini suitcases by Pinky Bleu add a bit of sunshine. How adorable, right? I had this seller hidden when I first saw these on Esty's front page awhile back. The shop is currently closed but, you'll have to take a peek at some of the sold items. There are even gift sets with a onesie inside the mini suitcase. What a great baby shower gift!

Birthday Inspiration

Leyton has been invited to quite a few birthday party's lately and let's just say I'm getting antsy to start planning his and Maddie's party's this summer. Leyton is wanting a Lego theme party and I've already been eyeing up and searching for ideas for his. Maddie is wanting a Ballerina party but, I really haven't browsed as much. And I don't have to look further because today I was glancing at this blog. Tracy threw the most adorable party for her 4 year old daughter. The above photos are just a few. You really have to see all the photos. And everything she did for it is oh, so precious! Definitely a ton of inspiration for Maddie's party. I can't wait to start planning!!!

PS...you have to check out the rest of Tracy's blog as well. So inspirational in the inside too. Her strength and faith is so uplifting!

Hooked

I'm completely hooked on the site Young House Love. Do you know about it? This young couple really knows how to make an interior design statement. All the DIY's and advice they shell out - wowza!

There is so much more to their site that I need to explore yet. I absolutely love the clean and fresh lines of what they all did to their home. Very lovely!

They have a whole section of How To's that you must check out. The upholster bed headboard is on the top of my list.

Tomorrow is the little guys actual birthday. So as promised I will post more pictures from his Lego party then. Enjoy your Thursday!

Taking it easy

Sorry for the lack of blog posts lately.  I've been experiencing back pain and I finally went in to the doctor to see what's up.  They are thinking that something is pinching my sciatic nerve.  I had issues with that a bit when I was pregnant with both kids but, nothing that was this painful.  So far I'm to ice my back, take anti-inflamatory pills and muscle relaxers.  It's only been 1-1/2 days on that regimen so we'll see how this goes. So with all of this I've been cutting my time back from sitting on the computer.

I'm sure many of you know of the clothing store Ruche and I just saw on their blog that they have a homemade holiday guide look book that is full of fun things to make.  If you have you should glance at it - really pretty things to make for the upcoming holidays.

Also, thank you for all the kind words that I've been receiving on the LEGO party I did for my son's 6th birthday party.  It really is so nice to hear.

The lost LEGO party guy

I've had a few inquiries about the guy banner I made for my son's 6th birthday party last year. I did have a post with a free download and for the life of me I have no idea what happened to it. I think when I made changes to my blog I may have accidently removed it. Sorry! Just simply click on the links below the photo of the ones you want,  print onto cardstock, cut, adhere to string and hang.  Enjoy!

Download them here

Birthday Boy

I was hoping to post some more pictures of Leyton's LEGO birthday party but, I've had a huge project that I was working on this week and uploading pictures took to the back burner. Today is my little guys birthday and I told him no worky poo for this Mom. I wanted to sneak in this quick post though.
Happy 6th Birthday sweet Leyton! What I love most about you is your inner gentle soul, your hugs, your purple tooth(thanks to a good fall when he was 2-1/2), and that killer smile!!! I'm one lucky Mommy!

Happy weekend!
